Patient Feedback/Case Study
A patient who only speaks Urdu was referred to our Social Prescriber. The initial conversation with the patient was with the aid of Bigword. We grasped the patient lived alone and was having difficulty paying their bills, etc. The patient had to ask their neighbours for help with doing her washing because the patients washing machine was broken and the patient couldn't afford to have it repaired.
We arranged for ICAF to contact this patient to do a financial check on benefits, etc. Outcome:
1. Patient was missing out on some welfare benefits; process has started to apply for this.
2. Patients water bill has been reduced from £773 to £250.00.
3. Currently in the process of acquiring a washing machine for this patient.
